Your missionary’s stake president can submit the recommendation papers for missionary work 120 days prior to the availability date. This date is the earliest your future missionary is available to begin their mission.
The earliest young men can enter the Missionary Training Center (MTC) is after they are 18 years of age and have graduated high school or it’s equivalent, and the earliest young women can enter the MTC is after their 19th birthday.
Your future missionary may also need to adjust their availability date based on university attendance, employment contracts or medical conditions.
Your missionary will work with their bishop and stake president to determine what availability date is best suited for their individual circumstances.
So Moms, if your son or daughter is thinking of a mission and will graduate this year and turn 18 or 19 then you can get started with the process of gathering all the needed things for their mission.
You can order my checklist: a guide for missionary moms to make this process so much easier!
My checklist will help take the overwhelm and stress out and guide you with a clear and simple to do list for each step of the way!
