Hi friend,
As I prepare to send my third son on his two-year mission, I find myself reflecting on the mix of emotions that come with this significant step in his life and for our family. It's a journey that is both hard and wonderful, challenging yet deeply rewarding.
As we get ready doing all the things, I've been reminded that each time I send a missionary out into the world, I truly have to re-learn how to trust in the Lord! Life is unpredictable, full of twists and turns that can sometimes feel overwhelming. Yet, I know that all good things come from God, and something I have learned over the past 6 months is that even the hardest trials can bring us closer to Him if we choose to lean on Him and accept his love.
As wonderful and happy as sending our children on a mission is, it can still be so hard on our mom hearts. The separation, the worries, and the longing for our children can weigh heavily. But I have a witness that the blessings of such sacrifice do come into our life. They may come in ways we don't expect, and sometimes they may come in this life or the next, but they will come.
I have learned that each challenge we face is an opportunity to grow stronger in our faith and closer to our Heavenly Father. Our children are headed out into the unknown but they are not alone. And as they face challenges they too can grow spiritually stronger and come closer to our Heavenly Father.
The most wonderful thing is that we, as moms, are not alone either. We have Heaven on our side and we have each other! Thousands of moms all praying for our missionaries, keeping faithful watch over the ones serving near us and living with a piece of our Hearts somewhere else in the world.
I know God has a plan for each of us. He sees our sacrifices and understands our emotions as we trust Him with our children.
I am so grateful that we have a Savior, our brother Jesus Christ. It is He that can turn trials into triumphs, sorrows into joy, and struggles into strengths.
As missionary moms we can support and uplift one another. Share our stories, our faith, and our love for our missionaries and this gospel. Let's be each other's strength and reminder that we are not alone in this missionary mom journey.
With love,
Scarlet
